Each year,
Entertainment Weekly publishes its list of "The 25 Movies You Need To See Before Oscar Night," and for the last several years, I've treated that list like a target of 25 personal goals to reach, to better inform my own play-along Academy Awards ballot guesses. So, in advance of the announcement of this year's nominees (5:00 AM, Pacific Time, Tuesday, February 2, 2010) and in preparation of the predictions and analyses that I will likely post here, this year's list is reprinted below [from
Entertainment Weekly, January 8, 2010]:
- Up In The Air
- Avatar
- The Hurt Locker
- Precious
- Inglorious Basterds
- Invictus
- An Education
- Up
- A Serious Man
- The Messenger
- Julie & Julia
- A Single Man
- Crazy Heart
- The Blind Side
- The Last Station
- Nine
- Star Trek
- District 9
- Fantastic Mr. Fox
- The Lovely Bones
- (500) Days Of Summer
- It's Complicated
- The Young Victoria
- Bright Star
- The Informant!
I will post a tally of how many I have seen to date soon - want to take a guess?
FYI: The Academy Awards will be broadcast on Sunday, March 7, 2010.
